History - ° 1903
Bouquet des Dunes is the first and largest complex that was built in 1903 by the architects Dumont in the Bortierlaan. It is situated in the prettiest district of the greenest town at the Belgian coast. Every single house in this district is a beauty with a rich history. Our neighbour house is villa Chalutier, summer residence and atelier of the artist Louis Van den Eynde. .
Villa "Les Ajoncs"
The apartment on the first floor of the right wing used to be part of what was then called Villa les Ajoncs . 'Ajonc' means gorse, a thorn bush with yellow flowers that grows in sandy soil and in the dunes. The villa then occupied three floors, including the Belvédère tower with sea view. But in the first decade of the 21st century, this villa was converted into 3 smaller apartments.
Gem restored
Bouquet des Dunes has been part of the protected city and village view since 2008 and is considered a monument in the district. With its special facade, the house has been protected as an architectural heritage since 2009. We restored that unique facade in 2020 together with our neighbors and lots of love!
